One Home is seeking to recruit a new board member who is passionate about protecting the environment. We are looking for a Trustee who can help to strengthen One Home and increase our impact.

At One Home we have pioneered engaging the public on solutions to tackle climate change and were instrumental in breaking the silence on the climate crisis. We started on a shoestring but are now looking to scale up our operations and are looking for a board member to advise and help us to do this effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is committed to making a difference on the biggest issue facing our world today. One Home’s mission is to motivate and inform people about climate action by offering practical advice on how to live a low cost, low carbon lifestyle and adapt to extreme weather. Our impact goes far beyond our size.

About One Home

One Home – www.onehome.org.uk – is the consumer awareness campaign of the Climate Alliance Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit social enterprise set up in 2017 by environmental scientist Angela Terry. We are in the process of converting to a charity, which is being managed by Stone King LLP. We have an excellent track record of working across all major media organisations – with big ambitions in educating and empowering people to accelerate net zero and adapt to extreme weather events.

What are we looking for?

  • Enthusiasm and passion for environmental and climate issues
  • We are particularly keen to hear from those with board membership experience, especially with finance skills
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time, effort and support.

Your role would be to:

  • Help us to shape One Home’s vision and strategy
  • Be a thinking partner and sounding board for management
  • Provide oversight to ensure that management fulfils the aims, objectives and duties of the charity
  • Assist with financial management, fundraising and reporting
  • Be an enthusiastic ambassador for environmental and climate issues.

Successful candidates will need to attend quarterly Board meetings (primarily online but occasionally face-to-face in London or Bristol) and be available for occasional conversations between meetings. We aim to have a diverse and inclusive board that represents the people, communities and organisations that we support. Commitment and enthusiasm are paramount and we welcome applicants from any background.

Please send a covering letter and CV to our HR Consultant Milly Harding at milly@millyharding.com. However, feel free to contact us in advance if you would like to discuss the role further before you apply.

We will conduct online interviews, which will also give you an opportunity to find out more about us. This is a voluntary, unpaid role but expenses and a day rate will be provided of £400 a day if required.

You can find out more about One Home at www.onehome.org.uk. We are in the process of becoming a charity and have submitted the appropriate forms to the Charity Commission to register as a charity.
