One Home is looking for a trustee who can help to strengthen their position and increase their impact. At One Home we have pioneered engaging the public on solutions to tackle climate change and were instrumental in improving coverage on the climate crisis in the UK media.

We started on a shoestring but are now looking to scale up operations and are looking for a board member to advise and help us do this effectively. One Home is wanting to find a new trustee ideally with fundraising experience in the charity or corporate sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that is committed to making a difference on the biggest issue facing our world today. One Home’s mission is to motivate and inform people about climate action by offering practical advice on how to live a low cost, low carbon lifestyle and adapt to extreme weather. Our impact goes far beyond the organisation’s current size.

Successful candidates will need to attend quarterly Board meetings (primarily online but occasionally face-to-face in London or Bristol) and be available for topical conversations between meetings. One Home aims to have a diverse and inclusive board that represents the people, communities and organisations that we support. Commitment and enthusiasm are paramount and we welcome applicants from any background.

Each trustee is also expected to have:

– A commitment to the purpose of One Home and be a passionate ambassador for environmental and climate issues

– Help shape One Home’s vision and strategy

– Be a thinking partner and sounding board for management

– An expectation that they will attend every board meeting, and any committee meeting of which they are a member

– A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort and to share helpful contacts, knowledge and insight

– Integrity and an expectation that they will declare any conflict of interests as and when they arise

– An understanding of One Home’s objects and powers under its Articles

– Good, independent judgement

One Home would like to hear from you if you have experience in strategic fundraising and are able to share your skills and experience with us. The ideal candidate will bring experience in fundraising in its broadest form and have the passion and know how to link this to environmental philanthropy.

Your experience may lend itself to supporting One Home grow corporate sponsorship, connect more effectively with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, foundations or trusts.

You could have worked directly in fundraising in the third sector or have experience from the private sector of commercial fundraising that lends itself to this role.

Enthusiasm and passion for environmental and climate issues and a willingness to devote the necessary time, effort and support are key. This is an exciting opportunity and could suit someone who is looking to build their portfolio or for their first non-executive position.
