Announcement comes as major new climate change report is released

One Home, an online platform that brings together accurate, practical information on climate actions, has announced iSupplyEnergy, a supplier of energy to UK homes, as its first major sponsor.

One Home is a not-for-profit initiative launched earlier this year by environmental scientist Angela Terry. Its aim is to inspire people to move away from using fossil fuels, switch to using clean, renewable technologies and make low carbon lifestyle choices.

iSupplyEnergy is supporting One Home as part of its commitment to helping people power their lives in climate-smarter ways and reduce society’s reliance on fossil fuels.

The news comes on the day the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) releases its special report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC – one of the most important climate change reports in recent years. Its findings show that the challenge of keeping temperature increase below 1.5 ºC is huge and, if it can be achieved, will require very tough action from governments and individuals around the world.

Angela Terry said: “I’m thrilled iSupplyEnergy is supporting One Home. As the IPCC report states, we need to take our climate actions to the next level to keep warming below 1.5ºC. We can only achieve this if society is given clear and impactful actions to take, which is where One Home comes in. iSupplyEnergy’s support will help us spread this message even further.”

Monica Collings, director of sales and marketing at iSupplyEnergy, said: “iSupplyEnergy is owned by Vattenfall, the Swedish energy group, which has invested £3.5 billion in UK renewables over the last 10 years. Delivering green energy to consumers so they can be part of the solution to climate change is fundamental to who we are. One Home shares our mission so our partnership with the platform is a perfect meeting of values.”

One Home is a project of the Climate Alliance, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company formed in 2017 to provide practical solutions to climate change. One Home has been praised by Sir David King, formerly the UK’s climate envoy (2013-2017) and the Government’s chief scientific adviser (2000-2007) who believes the project will “encourage a vital transformation of consumer habits and offer a holistic approach to the problem of climate change.”

Further organisations to have signed up to support One Home include Hunter Stoves Group, a British wood stove company; Solar South West, that develops and installs solar PV systems and battery storage solutions; Naturesave Insurance, an ethical insurance company; Renewable Energy Partnerships, an independent UK wind farm developer; gridIMP, a provider of energy demand management technology and Converging World, a renewable energy investor.

Angela concludes: “The Climate Alliance and the One Home project is the ideal vehicle for businesses that want to be part of a movement that is working to stop runaway climate change. One Home provides them with a platform to share their commitments and enact change and we urge any business with an interest in this to find out more about becoming a member.”
