You can #CountUsIn. Last month we revealed we were part of an exciting new global movement designed to mobilise people against climate change – now we can tell you all about it! Count Us In, launched on October 10th, is a massive new international campaign that aims to get at least one billion people around the world to act on climate change through practical steps to reduce carbon pollution. The campaign has been backed by over 70 high-profile organisations and businesses including BT, Ecotricity, HSBC, IKEA, Quorn, Sky, WWF and even Tottenham Hotspur FC – and of course One Home! The project sets out 16 achievable, high-impact steps for making a difference, from reducing meat consumption to switching energy provider. These are all small actions, but they can add up to big change if we all make play our part. According to the UN Environment Programme, if one billion people made small changes in their own lives they could reduce as much as 20% of global carbon emissions. Count Us In has been launched at TED Countdown, a global initiative powered by TED and Future Stewards (and supported by the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Jane Fonda and Mark Ruffalo). Here, you’ll be able to see how much difference your actions – and the collective efforts of everyone involved – are making. Log the steps you take and the platform will show you the carbon savings of each step, the number of other people taking these steps and the number of steps being taken around the world. “Imagine what the world would look like if a billion people took action to fight climate change,” said Chris Anderson, Head of TED and founding partner of TED Countdown. “We can all make a difference by taking simple practical steps. Count us in.” You can Count Us In, too. What about you? Are you ready to stand up and be counted? Follow the campaign’s progress at @CountUsInSocial and through #CountUsIn, and don’t forget to share your actions with your friends. Raising your voice about climate matters is a great way to encourage others to stand up and be counted as well. Disclaimer This information is provided for guidance only.
